How Teen Therapy Can Help
Our experienced therapists use a wide variety of modalities, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and more to help your teen get the most effective care for their needs.
Emotional Support
Our therapists offer a safe and confidential space for teens to express their feelings without judgment. They provide empathy, validation, and support, helping teens feel understood and heard.
Skill-Building
We teach teens practical coping skills and strategies to manage their emotions, navigate difficult situations, and communicate effectively with others. These skills empower teens to cope with stress, anxiety, and other challenges in healthy ways.
Identifying and Addressing Issues
Therapy helps teens explore and understand the root causes of their struggles, whether they’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflicts, or other issues. By identifying underlying issues, we can tailor treatment to address them effectively.
Building Resilience
Through therapy, teens learn to build resilience—the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adversity. We compassionately help teens develop a positive mindset, build self-confidence, and cultivate a sense of empowerment, enabling them to face challenges with courage and resilience.
Improving Relationships
Therapy can improve teens’ relationships with family members, peers, and themselves. In therapy, we work on helping teens develop healthy boundaries, improve communication skills, and resolve conflicts constructively, fostering stronger and more fulfilling relationships.
Support for Parents
Teen therapy often involves support and guidance for parents as well. We take the time to help you understand your teen’s struggles, learn effective parenting strategies, and strengthen your relationship with your child, creating a supportive family environment.

How Teen Therapy Works
We Get To Know Them
We use a collaborative therapeutic process to help your teen get to where they want to go. In our first session, we will get to know them, the difficulties they’re experiencing, and their past and present.
We Develop A Plan
What do they need most out of therapy? We meet your teen where they’re at to understand their needs and goals. Together, we develop a plan that best supports them throughout our time together.
We Provide Ongoing Support
We adapt our approach and process to help them feel better so they can move forward with confidence. Your teen is welcome to stay as long as they need, seeing counselling as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Questions About Teen Therapy
Have other questions?
What can my teen expect from therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are a safe and confidential space for your teen to talk about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. A therapist will listen without judgment, offer support and guidance, and teach practical coping skills to help your teen navigate challenges and improve their well-being.
How long will my teen need to go to therapy?
The duration of therapy depends on your teen’s individual needs and goals. Some teens may benefit from short-term therapy to address specific issues, while others may require longer-term treatment for more complex issues. Your teen’s therapist will work with them to develop a personalized treatment plan and discuss the expected duration of therapy.
Will I be involved in my teen's therapy sessions?
In many cases, parents are involved to some extent in their teen’s therapy. This could include attending family therapy sessions, participating in parent education sessions, or having periodic check-ins with the therapist to discuss progress and goals. However, the level of parental involvement will depend on your teen’s preferences and the therapeutic approach being used.
How can I support my teen's therapy journey at home?
You can support your teen’s therapy journey by creating a supportive and understanding environment at home. Encourage open communication, validate their feelings, and be patient as they work through challenges. Help them practice the coping skills they learn in therapy, and stay involved in their treatment by attending sessions or following up with their therapist as needed. Above all, let your teen know that you’re there for them every step of the way.

Raising a teenager is hard… But, being a teenager is hard, too, which is why our kids need someone they trust to lean on, to come to for advice, and to share their lives – the good, the bad and the ugly. Having a front row seat in our kids’ lives is a far better place to be than sitting on the highest bleacher.
