Marie Trottier

Marie has been in practice for many years providing therapy to adolescents, adults, couples and families who are experiencing emotional challenges, relationship issues and personal struggles. She offers therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem and other mental health challenges that negatively impact peoples' lives. Marie has extensive professional development in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Conflict Management and is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

In therapy, Marie uses an integrated approach that draws from CBT, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, Interpersonal Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and other proven therapeutic approaches. She sees individuals and situations as unique and as such requiring an individual treatment plan for addressing specific needs.

Marie recognizes the value of positive psychology with a solution-orientated, problem solving approach. She believes in helping clients to access their personal resources and wisdom while working to achieve their goals. Clients build on their strengths to develop action plans for successful resolution. On a personal note, Marie believes that therapy is a process to help people who are stuck at a place in their life journey. In therapy she works with the client to assist in moving through this block in the path toward further development and growth.

Marie also counsels mature adolescents and young adults in the area of career decision making and adults who are going through changes and transitions in their present careers. In the case of adolescents and young adults she offers an individualized program that is streamlined to meet the needs of each client. It includes individual counseling, extensive career assessment and a personalized career report which connects occupations to the client's assessed interests, values, skills and personality traits.
